Surely we can practice using each other? It can be great fun to allow your staff to role play with each other in managerial or customer service scenarios, however this can be of limited value. Our actors are specially trained to assume the role of a harassed legal secretary or angry builder and sustain it convincingly. They are able to make any environment believable and can react instantly to changing circumstances to create a situation as near to reality as possible. The role players would be expected to learn a series of detailed facts so that the case is presented accurately to the client.

Would your role players be able to learn all the information when it is only given the week before? Actors are trained to learn lines very quickly. Learning facts and information is no different. At heavy pencil we make sure our actors are fully briefed about the culture of the company we are training, the competences and learning tools which are needed to be drawn out of the session, and also the personality type of the character they are playing. We spend time working with your organisation to ensure we have all the necessary information to reflect the tone of your business accurately.

Do your role players have any experience in business and will they be able to come across as real people, rather than actors? All the actors employed by us have business experience. Our core team have worked for major banks, the Economist newspaper, in the legal system and in management for major organisations such as Marks and Spencer. This experience coupled with their acting training means they are very familiar with the corporate environment.

How much do your services cost? We charge for each actor per day. We have separate pricing structures for the public and private sectors, and writing and designing is priced on an individual basis. Our low overheads mean we are able to charge very competitive fees so contact us and we will be delighted to give you a quote.

Do you supply your actors and services across the UK? We are Surrey-based so have perfect access to London and the South East but we do have actors all over the country and are willing travel, we generally prefer to use low carbon travel, and therefore try and use public transport where possible.

Do you supply actors and services internationally? Yes!

I'd love to use actors but any mention of role play fills my staff with dread! Can you ease my concerns? It is not about our performance when working with delegates it is about bringing out the best in a delegate as a learning tool. So we do not deliberately act out strong emotions to trip up a delegate. We use our skills to make the scenario as real as possible and provide a hands-on approach to learning with valuable feedback. Look at the feedback we receive from delegates testimonials where you will find evidence to support this.
