I feel this was a very good workshop, where I was able to relate to day to day scenarios. I particularly liked the style of learning and felt comfortable in my surroundings. The forum Theatre was exceptional!

Working with Susanna and her colleague enabled our staff to experience situations they are likely to face in the workplace in a "safe" environment. All the trainees were exceptionally nervous in advance however on completion of the course they all said in the evaluation that the role play had been the best part. Susanna and her colleague were professional and provided quality feedback to the delegates which enhanced their learning. I would recommend heavy pencil to anyone who wants the opportunity to practice what they are learning.
Christine Catlin - Head of Learning and Development, Ealing NHS Trust.

The most useful sessions on the programme are the role play scenarios with the actors. They make it very real and provide an opportunity to put into practice some of the skills learned on the programme by facing situations in a safe environment before tackling them in the work environment.
Quotes from delegates at Brighton and Sussex Hospital

We wanted to develop a series of training workshops (including role playing) to support our behavioural competencies. We hadn’t worked with actors before, so assessed a number of companies to see what they could provide. heavy pencil spent time with us to understand the learning value to our delegates and worked with us to tailor the workshop to our needs. We felt that they cared about delivering a quality service, and that they offered good value for money to RiskCare. We anticipate working with heavy pencil again in the future.
Richard Haddow, HR Director, RiskCare

“Really enjoyed it” “very realistic” “surprisingly enjoyable” “very useful.”

As an organisational development consultant, I conduct courses for managers to improve their skills and confidence in dealing effectively with complex and complicated staff situations. I have used heavy pencil's actors for over six years which ensures that the participants on my courses receive a high quality, realistic opportunity to practice their new skill-set using the medium of role play. It is fair to say that most adults come to my training with a very dim view of role play, but without exception leave lauding and applauding their experience and heavy pencil's actors can claim a large amount of credit for this transformatio

When playing roles from our legal environment, lawyers and staff commented on how true to life the actors from heavy pencil had played the characters. For me as the trainer this avoids all comments such as "well in real life..." or "but it's only role play"

I was not only impressed by the acting ability of the roleplayers from heavy pencil but was delighted with all the intricate business information and figures they had learnt from the briefs. This made the whole course extremely successful.

The final day's module brought everything together - with actors playing the roles of applicants, in effect people we don't know, it gives a real sense of what recruitment and selection is all about. They are very convincing!

Heavy Pencil supplied actors for both our 2008 and 2009 Roald Dahl Day celebrations at the Museum. In 2008 we had Miss Trunchbull and Miss Honey (from Roald Dahl's Matilda) battling it out in our courtyard and this year we had evil farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean playing short scenes from Fantastic Mr Fox and generally engaging ‘in character’ with our visitors. They did a really great job in keeping everybody entertained and providing a focal point for the activities and for the press photographers. We would have no hesitation in approaching Heavy Pencil again for a similar event.
